Darlene Zschech of Hillsong music joined to worship with Pope Francis. What does this say of her stance on Biblical truth? What is the current state of the church today? Kevin DeYoung’s article ’40 Questions for Christians Now Waving Rainbow Flags’ is also looked at in this week’s show, along with some professing Christian responses and objections to the article.
As the media continues to wonder after the Beast, with the current pontiff speaking to the United Nations, is Pope Francis any different to the established Roman Dogma with this latest declaration of anti-capitalism? What can be learned from his economic views? How are they similar to collectivist regimes, be they communist or fascist? How should we respond Biblically on the issue of private property?
What does this message from the Vatican to Kenneth Copeland, using Anglican Bishop Tony Palmer, tell us about Rome? Has Rome changed in a way that Protestants can now embrace or it is something that cannot be trusted at all?
“Separated because, it’s sin that has separated us, all our sins. The misunderstandings throughout history. It has been a long road of sins that we all shared in. Who is to blame? We all share the blame … I am speaking to you as a brother. I speak to you in a simple way. With joy and nostalgia (yearning). Let us allow our nostalgia (yearning) to grow, because this will propel us to find each other, to embrace one another. And together to worship Jesus Christ as the only Lord of History.” –Part of pope Francis’ Message to Kenneth Copeland.
“Any form of religion other than the truth is a demonic operation … any form of pseudo-Christianity … Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Christian Science, you name it, Roman Catholicism. That’s demonic operation. That’s a demonic system because it’s either from the Spirit of God, or demons. There’s no middle ground.”
“It is by mixture of counterfeit religion with true, not discerned and distinguished, that the devil has had his greatest advantage against the cause and kingdom of Christ.”
Paul looks at the recent news of how pope Francis has been put on the cover of ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine and other prominent publications. How much has Francis changed in the church of Rome, if anything? How should Bible Believers respond to this man and his growing popularity in the media?
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie”
-2 Thessalonians 2:3-11
“Wycliffe, Tyndale, Luther, Calvin, Cranmer; in the seventeenth century, Bunyan, the translators of the King James Bible and the men who published the Westminster and Baptist confessions of Faith; Sir Isaac Newton… Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards; and more recently Charles Spurgeon, J.C. Ryle and Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones; these men among countless others, all saw the office of the Papacy as the antichrist.”
-Michael de Semlyen, All Roads Lead to Rome, p. 205
Paul discusses the homosexual scandals that have surrounded the Vatican as of late, and also the election of the first Jesuit as pope in history.
“The General of the Jesuits, the ‘Black Pope’, is the real and only Pope. The one who bears the title is but a figurehead. It is the Jesuits’ policy he pursues, their voice that speaks through him, their hand that guides him.”
–Alexander Robertson: The Roman Catholic Church in Italy(1903), p. 51
“And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.”
